Travel Resources + My Recommendations
Accommodations
When traveling to new locations, I prefer to stay in larger hotels. The mantra "go with what you know" has served me well, especially after experiencing the drawbacks of choosing less expensive accommodations. I'm willing to pay a bit more for peace of mind, as I don't want to worry about lodging in an unfamiliar place.
Hilton Hotels is one of my preferred brands. I've always had positive experiences with them, and they have locations everywhere, including various branches under their management.
Air Travel
I'm a big fan of JetBlue. As I frequently flew out of Boston Logan Airport, a major JetBlue hub, the airline quickly became my default choice.
One aspect I appreciate about JetBlue is their credit card program. After seeing how quickly my mom accumulated points on her JetBlue card, I decided to get one myself. Using points to pay for flights has been fantastic, making it easy for me to travel to new places. Plus, I earn more points on flights I've booked using points – it's like recycling points, which I highly recommend.
Car Rentals
I usually avoid renting cars when visiting cities, opting instead for public transit or ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft to save money. However, when it's necessary, I prefer to use Enterprise Rentals.
Trip Planning
Planning road trips or any trips requires considerable time and research. For road trips, I primarily use two platforms:
Roadtrippers, a planning tool that allows you to plan your entire route in advance. It offers excellent recommendations for stops along the way and estimates your gas needs. You can fully customize it to suit your trip.
Google Maps is my go-to for locating hotels. I also use Maps for navigation during the trip, as it's user-friendly and allows me to save lists of places I want to visit.
